Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Pubic Schools in Montana are overfunded: O
2. Pubic Schools in Montana are underfunded: O
3. Pubic Schools in Montana are adequately funded: S
4. Parental choice in education should be expanded through tax credits, education savings accounts, vouchers, and other means to allow children to attend any school of their or their parents choice: S
5. Montana should allow public charter schools: S
6. Parents should be allowed to home school their children without additional state regulation: O
7. The teaching of "Critical Race Theory" (CRT) should be banned in Montana public schools: S
8. Comprehensive sex education, beginning as early as kindergarten, should be allowed in public elementary schools: O* We should be striving to make our schools better rather than turn our backs on them. Our School Boards need to be filled with people who are dedicated to support our teachers and the students. Our parents need to be more active in the education process rather than pointing fingers and saying the schools don’t do enough. They need to be parents and work at home with their children and read to and with them or review their work and help them rather than accusing teachers of not doing enough. They are our children and we have personal accountability in preparing them for life. Comprehensive sex education should be taught when our children are intellectually capable of understanding the topic and the materials being taught. Kindergarten is far too young. Additionally, parents should prepare themselves to appropriately teach their own children. On the subject of Critical Race Theory, I believe we can learn from the mistakes of the past, but I believe we have to approach the future with a true desire to exemplify the teachings of Christ and treat each other as equals in our future.
9. Income taxes in Montana are too high: S
10. Property taxes in Montana are too high: S
11. Corporate taxes in Montana are too high: S
12. The 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution allows all citizens to own firearms for self-protection: S
13. Global warming is a problem requiring increased regulation: O
14. Environmental regulations in Montana are too stringent: S
15. Environmental regulations in Montana are NOT stringent enough: SS* The State of Montana and the Counties that comprise our State tax in response to the services that are required by our citizens. I believe we should responsibly scrutinize the costs for those services and keep those costs to a minimum. Alternatively, a critical review of the services provided could result in elimination of some services to realize a commensurate reduction in our taxes. The Second Amendment allows all citizens to protect themselves as provided by our founding fathers. The largest majority of people who own guns do so in a responsible manner. People who wish to do harm can also choose bombshell, knives and cars to harm others. Our efforts need to be focused on utilizing the safeguards already in place to protect our citizens rather than preventing the majority of responsible citizens from owning firearms. Throughout the history of Earth, we have realized numerous periods of warming and cooling without any influence by mankind. Those targeting fossil fuels as the sole cause tend to ignore all of the automobiles and planes that all of us use. Electric automobiles are a viable option, however, the electricity needed to operate them must be mass produced. Wind and solar can supply some of the demand, but not on days without sunshine or on days when the wind isn’t blowing with enough velocity or when it is blowing too fast for turbines to be allowed to turn. As a country and as a world we should be striving for a balanced approach to insure responsible and dependable power production. The environmental constraints of Montana exceed those required by the EPA, which allows the Department of Environmental Quality to oversee those industries involved in resources production for our State and Region. We should remain vigilant, but not radically opposed to industries that provide our energy and guarantee our nation’s security.
16. Montanans should not be discriminated against or treated differently because of their vaccine status: S* I have had Covid and I was blessed to have survived. That being said, I have received both doses of the Moderna vaccine and I have received the supplemental vaccine. The choices we mine. I believe people should be able to choose for themselves. There are many people in our country who don’t get their annual Flu shot or the pneumonia vaccine. Again, it is their choice and their right. I personally feel that we should do whatever we can individually to avoid becoming sick with any disease or malady, but in the end we each need to also be prepared to accept the consequences of our decisions. Additionally, there is some significant doubt regarding the effectiveness of the Covid vaccine. Even those within the medical community cannot agree and people are being given conflicting opinions by doctors and healthcare providers. With the lack of certainty we should be able to exercise our freedom of choice.
17. Doctor assisted suicide should be legal in Montana: O
18. Abortion should be banned in ALL stages of pregnancy: S
19. Abortion should be banned during all stages of pregnancy, with the exceptions for rape and incest: S
20. Abortion should be banned only after a heartbeat is detected (around 6 weeks): O
21. Abortion should be banned only after the first trimester (12 weeks): O
22. Abortion should be banned only when a fetus becomes viable outside the womb (20 weeks): O
23. Abortion should be banned only after the 2nd trimester (28 weeks): O
24. Abortion should never be banned, not at any stage of pregnancy: SO
25. The Montana Constitution should be amended to ban abortion: SS
26. Infanticide (infants born alive with physical abnormalities, including infants born as a result of a botched abortion) should be banned in Montana. S
27. Companies and individuals should be allowed to opt-out of the abortion related mandates contained in Obamacare: SS* God has stated “Thou shalt not kill”. We, as a a society, have rationalized the taking of life against what God has commanded and that is wrong. Our freedom should also include the freedom to refrain. The arguments regarding rape and incest are being utilized to rationalize the taking of a life when a very small percentage of the abortions being performed fall into either of these categories.
28. Transgender athletes should be allowed to compete against athletes of the opposite sex: O
29. Doctors should be banned from performing sex-change procedures on minors: S
30. Homosexuals and transgender people should be allowed to adopt children: O
31. Non-discrimination laws should be expanded to protect sexual orientation and gender identity in the same way that race, creed, nationality, and religion are protected: O
32. Montana’s marriage laws should be changed to reflect the recent legalization of same-sex marriage by the U.S. Supreme Court: O* These are very difficult issues that involve some of my family members. I believe these things are scripturally wrong. We are asked to denounce the sin and still love the sinner. Many of the people that have been eluded to are loving and caring and generous people, but I can’t condone the sin any more than I can excuse any sin that I have committed.
