Question Response Comments/Notes
1. Pubic Schools in Montana are overfunded: SO
2. Pubic Schools in Montana are underfunded: SS
3. Pubic Schools in Montana are adequately funded: SO
4. Parental choice in education should be expanded through tax credits, education savings accounts, vouchers, and other means to allow children to attend any school of their or their parents choice: SO
5. Montana should allow public charter schools: SO
6. Parents should be allowed to home school their children without additional state regulation: SO
7. The teaching of "Critical Race Theory" (CRT) should be banned in Montana public schools: SO
8. Comprehensive sex education, beginning as early as kindergarten, should be allowed in public elementary schools: S* I support public schools and oppose efforts to privatize public education. Sex education is not taboo and children should be taught this subject in age-appropriate ways. The CRT debate is a political hot-button issue raised by TV pundits that only serves to divide us. School is not a place to "ban" subjects and ideas; school is a place to learn and discuss new things.
9. Income taxes in Montana are too high: S
10. Property taxes in Montana are too high: SS
11. Corporate taxes in Montana are too high: S
12. The 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution allows all citizens to own firearms for self-protection: SS
13. Global warming is a problem requiring increased regulation: S
14. Environmental regulations in Montana are too stringent: O
15. Environmental regulations in Montana are NOT stringent enough: S* I support changing how we fund local governments with the goal of reducing our high property taxes. I support owning firearms for self-protection. I support a clean environment and striking a balance between healthy environmental standards and a business's ability to operate at a profit.
16. Montanans should not be discriminated against or treated differently because of their vaccine status: S* The decision to receive a vaccine must be informed by science, the available data, and your personal medical history. Many vaccines are fully FDA-approved, such as the Covid-19 vaccine. Taking a vaccine is a good idea because vaccines improve your chances of avoiding severe illness and infecting your family and friends. Nonetheless, we should work with everyone who has vaccine hesitancy and seek to understand their perspective. I support childhood vaccinations because they keep our children alive and our schools safe. Vaccines are remarkable inventions and have wiped diseases off the face of the earth. When we do not vaccinate, dangerous diseases return. That's why it is important to work with everyone in promoting safe and effective vaccines.
17. Doctor assisted suicide should be legal in Montana: S
18. Abortion should be banned in ALL stages of pregnancy: SO
19. Abortion should be banned during all stages of pregnancy, with the exceptions for rape and incest: SO
20. Abortion should be banned only after a heartbeat is detected (around 6 weeks): SO
21. Abortion should be banned only after the first trimester (12 weeks): SO
22. Abortion should be banned only when a fetus becomes viable outside the womb (20 weeks): SO
23. Abortion should be banned only after the 2nd trimester (28 weeks): SO
24. Abortion should never be banned, not at any stage of pregnancy: SS
25. The Montana Constitution should be amended to ban abortion: SO
26. Infanticide (infants born alive with physical abnormalities, including infants born as a result of a botched abortion) should be banned in Montana. SO
27. Companies and individuals should be allowed to opt-out of the abortion related mandates contained in Obamacare: SO* The decision to terminate a pregnancy is the decision of the mother in consultation with a medical professional. The government must not be involved in this private and personal matter. I selected "strongly oppose" on the infanticide question only because I have no idea what you are talking about or implying. It is already illegal to murder human beings who are born alive.
28. Transgender athletes should be allowed to compete against athletes of the opposite sex: SS
29. Doctors should be banned from performing sex-change procedures on minors: SO
30. Homosexuals and transgender people should be allowed to adopt children: SS
31. Non-discrimination laws should be expanded to protect sexual orientation and gender identity in the same way that race, creed, nationality, and religion are protected: SS
32. Montana’s marriage laws should be changed to reflect the recent legalization of same-sex marriage by the U.S. Supreme Court: SS* Your questions on sexual orientation and transgender individuals are hateful, discriminatory questions. Your organization should be ashamed. These questions should not appear on future questionnaires.
